IAESTE United States owes its success in large part to dedication and contributions of its members. Through the years, alumni and members have been instrumental in IAESTE United States achieving its past and present goals. As IAESTE United States develops into a stronger national society, we encourage members to continue providing their valuable input. We invite you to learn more about how you can help IAESTE United States.

Give Time
This great way to get involved requires little commitment, but pays great dividends. You will meet student and professional members, alumni, and employers. Some opportunities for volunteering time with IAESTE are:

Participate in Local Committee events
If you live in near an IAESTE Local Committee (please consult the complete list of current LCs), the opportunities for involvement with student members are endless. LCs host regular meetings during the academic year, and are always looking for professionals to speak about their international experiences. In the spring and summer, LCs host international interns and plan social activities for them. These could include visits to Chicago or Washington, DC for an IAESTE Get Together, or just a picnic in a local park.

Speak at Conferences
IAESTE sponsors annual regional and national conferences. Speakers at these conferences are typically volunteers with expertise in various areas highlighted by the IAESTE experience. These include developing leadership skills, international technical careers, or simply how your IAESTE experience impacted your life.

Attend/Host Networking Events
IAESTE hosts networking events regionally each year. We encourage our members to participate as a way to connect with other alumni and supporters in the area. We will also be happy to provide assistance to anyone who would like to host a networking reception.

Give Experience
One-on-one, or in a group setting, your experience is valuable to the students and young alumni of IAESTE United States. Some examples of how to share your personal and professional experience are:

  • Write for The Compass: Your personal experience is valuable to us. As a member spotlight or a feature article, we look forward to receiving your article ideas or stories for The Compass.
  • Mentor students and young alumni: IAESTE is currently working to establish an online database for mentors to connect with young professionals and students looking to establish themselves in the various technical professions. Once completed, you will be able to volunteer online.
  • Host tours of your workplace: These tours encourage Local Committee members to develop their career plan and can provide a day of educational fun for international interns as well.

If you are interested in volunteering your time to help IAESTE, please contact us at iaeste@aipt.org for more information.
