Below you will find information on how to apply for a J-1 visa through the IAESTE network. We look forward to helping you understand and navigate the U.S. immigration regulations.
Founded in 1948, the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) is an international network that coordinates on-the-job training for students in the fields of engineering, computer science, mathematics, natural/physical sciences, architecture, business, finance, and agricultural science. IAESTE United States can not process visas for hospitality/tourism, pilot training, and medical/patient care programs.
Application Process
IAESTE United States has represented IAESTE in America since 1950 and is a program of the Association for International Practical Training (AIPT). If you are a university student pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in a technical field, please do the following:
- Complete the Exchange Visitor application. Your U.S. employer must complete the Host Employer application. Send the completed Host Employer application and the Exchange Visitor application to IAESTE United States. Please include fees and the required additional documents. You may send the applications directly to IAESTE United States.
- Contact the IAESTE office in your country; please visit our contact information page. They can assist you with questions and the application forms. You must register with the IAESTE office in your country in order for IAESTE United States to process your work permit.
-
We will review your application once the completed applications, including the fees, are received by IAESTE United States. The review process can take 4-6 weeks for processing.
IAESTE United States does offer an expedited process. For an additional $1250, the expedited review will be completed in 10 business days. The application must be complete to expedite; missing items will only delay the application. At the end of the review you will receive a decision on your application. The 10 business days does NOT include printing of forms, mailing of forms, or the U.S. Consulate's processing time.
Please contact IAESTE United States at iaeste@aipt.org if you have questions or concerns about a particular situation.
