Join IAESTE United States and the University of Maryland to explore the theory and practices of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and the ways in which TCM practitioners are applying modern technology and practices to enhance quality of delivery and effectiveness. 

The program will include lectures and visits to universities, institutes and the Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology to examine the evolution of the ancient practices to address modern society. Participants will also travel to Guilin for a site visit to the Guilin TCM Hospital, celebrating its 50th anniversary of providing TCM diagnoses and treatment.

Who Should Participate:
Students majoring in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and related fields who are interested in learning more about Traditional Chinese Medicine and public policy will be ideally suited for the program. Applicants should be sophomores, juniors or returning seniors. No foreign language skills are required, although knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) is preferred. Applicants must be IAESTE student members but U.S. citizenship is not required.

Program fee: $3950 (estimated)
Includes tuition for the affiliated University of Maryland course, round-trip airfare from the gateway city to Hong Kong, in-country transportation between Hong Kong and mainland China, hotel accommodations, and guided city tours. Participants will be responsible for arranging travel to and from the gateway city, vaccinations, some meals, and spending money.

Course information
All program participants will enroll in a three-credit, Summer term 2008, online course offered by the University of Maryland. More information on the course will be available soon.
